In this evening lecture and two-day workshop,
Dr. Buchele and Dr. Whitehouse will discuss Arthur Young’s groundbreaking “Theory of Process” (“ToP”), which, we feel, is the leading candidate for a comprehensive integrative paradigm which is cohesive, predictive, and testable, providing an explanation of the process of “how we got here,” and “where we might be going if we don’t understand how we got here.”  We will demonstrate several amazing applications of ToP into the worlds of cellular and human development, including neurological and psychological evolution, and a new model for the maintenance of health and the treatment of “dis-ease.”

ToP toroid

Arthur M. Young developed a desire to reconcile Science (including Newtonian as well as Quantum Physics and the Biological Sciences) with the Miraculous (including the mystery of the existence of self-reflexive human consciousness, to areas as diverse as paranormal phenomena, spontaneous remissions and psychic healing, the possibility of survival of consciousness beyond the physical body, and the insights to be gained from the “ancient wisdom” religions, philosophies, mythologies, and sacred geometries).  His journey took him from studying mathematics at Princeton, to the study of the Theory of Relativity and the study of quantum physics, to overcoming the problem of instability and vibration in vertical flight, leading to his development and invention of the Bell Helicopter.  The completion of this “process” that led to the first commercially licensed helicopter not only allowed him the insights into the nature of process itself (from the purpose of the project, through to its completion), but it allowed him the financial resources to devote his life to an study of the nature of human consciousness and how this relates to the known physical world we inhabit.  His wife Ruth organized the International Peace Academy in New York City in response to the realization that the atomic bomb had ushered humans into a new era, in which the choice to evolve or to destroy rests in our hands.  Arthur realized that the entrance of humanity into the nuclear and atomic age necessitated not only knowledge about the evolution of our consciousness, but the necessity for an organized change in consciousness, if our evolution is to continue upon this Spaceship Earth.

Arthur’s 29-year study revealed knowledge about the primacy of light, the toroidal shape of space and time, and the reflexive nature of the evolution of matter into life and consciousness.  He determined that process goes through 7 Stages, having traversed through 4 Levels in a downward spiral followed by a “virgin birth” turning point, and then an upward inward spiral.   His discovery is called the Theory of Process (ToP),  (also called the “Theory of Evolutionary Process” (ToEP)), and it examines the process of the evolution of consciousness, in its journey from light to enlightenment.  This comprehensive paradigm is described in his books primary books, released in 1976:  The Reflexive Universe (“RU”), and The Geometry of Meaning (“GM”).  Other books by or about Arthur include Mathematics Physics and Reality, Which Way Out? and Nested Time.  His thoughts during the invention of the Bell helicopter are documented in excerpts from his journal in The Bell Notes.

From 1976 until his death in 1995, he tested and refined his theory with further insights gleaned through his eclectic readings, his conversations with scientists, mystics, philosophers, and numerous others (facilitated by the speakers he hosted at the Institute for the Study of Consciousness in Berkeley and his study groups in Philadelphia), and in a continued journal of his thoughts which discussed and developed upon his insights.

Arthur refused to be a “guru,” and instead gifted his work to the world, asking only that his students first understand his system, then to test it, and then to further explore and refine or improve it, not worship it.  He did want them to apply it to their own areas of interest and expertise and “see how it flies.”  In the way that he made helicopter models and flew them, observing which models actually flew, yet learning more when they crashed, before going to Bell to construct the actual life sized helicopter, he also wished for others to “test and fly” the ToP, and to revise it if it “crashed.”  Arthur has said that his development of the Theory of Process was infinitely more important to him than his work on the helicopter, and that understanding, further testing, and application of it could be essential to our survival as an intelligent and self-reflexive species.

"The earlier concept of a universe made up of physical particles interacting according to fixed laws is no longer tenable. It is implicit in present findings that action rather than matter is basic. . . This is good news, for it is no longer appropriate to think of the universe as a gradually subsiding agitation of billiard balls. The universe, far from being a desert of inert particles, is a theatre of increasingly complex organization, a stage for development in which man has a definite place, without any upper limit to his evolution."

The Reflexive Universe

The purpose of our workshop is to bring Arthur’s findings to others as the integrative paradigm that clearly unites the physical and nonphysical realms and provides a framework for further integrative studies between science and the miraculous.

The First Night’s Lecture, Friday, November 16
will provide an overview of the entire ToP, including: it’s toroidal shape and nature; the mapping of the 3-dimensional torus onto a 2-dimensional, 7x7 grid; the 4 Levels; and the 7 reflexive Stages with a miraculous turning point.  This lecture will cover the basics of the ToP and is recommended either by itself, but also to enhance the ease of understanding the information and demonstrations in the two-day workshop.
Each morning of the workshops, we will briefly review the ToP, to help develop further understanding of it, but also to let people who could not attend the opening lecture, to be able to grasp the basic ToP principles to be developed in each workshop.

In the Saturday Morning workshop, Saturday, November 17
will then follow with a further discussion of the ToP, showing how this theory not only explains the process of the evolution of life in all its forms, but also shows the process of the evolution of consciousness as it has unfolded in our human history.  Further, these developmental stages now reveal that we are at a key turning point in the journey to enlightenment.  This current historical 4th stage turning point requires that we conscious entities must learn from our mistakes, and that we must now master the right combinations before we can progress to the stage of breaking through to our creative genius and purpose (5th stage), and then attaining the special (magical/miraculous) powers at the stage of the “group soul” (6th stage).

The Saturday Afternoon Session
will build upon the foundations of ToP, and Dr. Buchele will describe how Frank Barr, MD, specifically applied ToP to the medical sciences in his development of his Theory of BioProcess (ToBP).  We will first focus on the groundbreaking work by Bruce Lipton, PhD to revolutionize our view of the cell and his overthrowing of the “dogma of the control of the cell by its DNA.”  The data from the “genome project” (which mapped the human DNA) clearly does not support the “one gene, one protein” hypothesis, yet science has not yet come up with a viable alternative to explain cellular life.  Bruce Lipton developed his revolutionary theory that the cellular membrane is the true “brain” of the cell, (the “mem-brain”), in his book, “The Biology of Belief.” Frank Barr takes this to the next level in his upcoming book, “From Light to Enlightenment.” He uncovers and explains the dynamics of the evolution of the key unit of life, the cell, as explained by his Theory of BioProcess (ToBP).  We will look at Dr. Barr’s recognition of the importance of the cellular membrane and its component molecules, but he then discovered the remarkable properties of the molecule melanin, and especially that of neuromelanin, and how these molecules are key to the organization of the cell.  Once these stages and dynamics of cellular development and function are understood, we will then see how this same 7-stage process occurs as embryological development unfolds via BioProcess predictions.  Following this overview, we will focus on the process of the evolutionary development of the human Central Nervous System/Brain complex and the interface between the Mind and the Brain.  We will look at how the 4 basic rhythm patterns of the EEG are generated and manifested, and how their proper functional interrelationships are essential to health and to memory.

In the Sunday Workshop, Sunday November 18
we will again briefly review the basics of the ToP, with a brief review of the basics of ToBP, both to foster better understanding from those attending the prior workshop, but also providing a working guide to the following workshop presentations for those who cannot attend either of the prior sessions.

The remainder of this workshop will delve into examples of Bob Whitehouse’s applications of ToP into his work on EEG biofeedback, Spectral Heart Rate Variability, and his work utilizing the discoveries and applications of the HeartMath work. This led to his realization of the Toroidal structure of the heart.  He will also demonstrate a new form of Biofeedback and psychotherapeutic training using the “Wild Divine” computer simulation interactive experience.  There will be demonstrations of the various technologies with conference volunteers.

The workshop will end with time for discussion of the implications for the future by the evolving applications of the principles of the Theory of Process in other areas of our science and our society.  We are at a true “Turning Point.”
